Presentation
Jennifer was born in Kansas City and has lived there most of her life. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in criminal justice in 1991 and her law degree in 1995 from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law.
Her law degree thesis was titled "Uses of DNA for Prosecution," based on research she conducted between her first and second years of law school at the University of Maryland, College Park, in collaboration with the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.
Jennifer also served as a consultant for Channel 4 News after law school during the OJ Simpson trial, focusing on the use of DNA in criminal cases. This occurred during the live televised DNA testimony.
In her sophomore year of college, she announced to her parents that she had decided to become a lawyer rather than a clinical psychologist as she had originally planned. She has never regretted that decision. Instead of becoming a prosecutor, she chose to ensure that every defendant receives the best possible representation. She believed they deserved justice, and she still holds that belief today.
After graduating from law school, she worked with two attorneys before opening her own solo practice, Reagan Law, LLC, focusing on family law, traffic law, and criminal law.
Jennifer has received the President's Awards from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation, among other honors during her nearly 30 years of practice.
About two years ago, she decided that after focusing on family law for around 30 years, she wanted a change. After much thought and many conversations, she officially closed her practice and joined the DWI and Criminal Law Center at Benjamin Law Firm, LLC, in January 2024. She now leads the firm’s traffic division, handling expungement, hardship, and reinstatement cases. She greatly appreciates her new venture, especially the camaraderie, after being a solo practitioner for so long.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys reading novels, meeting new people, and traveling abroad. She is also the co-owner of the wine boutique Marco Polo Selections and enjoys learning about wine and introducing new wines from around the world.
Jennifer believes none of this would have been possible without the support of her family. They taught her that hard work and treating everyone like a friend are the core values of life.
